Students live in furnished apartments within walking distance to Il Sillabo.
Apartments consist of 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and kitchen.
Most bedrooms are double occupancy.
Many apartments have wireless internet connections.
Students who live in apartments without internet will be given keys to the school's computer room.
A laundromat is available in San Giovanni Valdarno.
Most students take the opportunity to learn how to shop and cook "Italian-style” by making their meals at home.
Grocery stores and food shops are in the neighborhood.
Chat with the vendors at the markets for recipes and all the local gossip and news!
There is, of course, a myriad of restaurants and cafes to choose from if you decide to eat out.
San Giovanni offers a 14th century town where students can experience Italian culture not found in the souvenir shops of Rome and Florence.
It is an ideal location to learn Italian and explore the art history and art culture that makes Italy so rich.
Bycicling is the best way to explore San Giovanni and the surrounding region.
Il Sillabo offers free bicycle rentals for day and weekend use.
In addition, Il Sillabo staff arrange activities* during the semester to help students integrate into Italian culture.

* Students are responsible for paying the cost of transportation, entrance fees and meals for some of the activities.
San Giovanni is situated a long the Rome-Florence train line, offering easy access to both cities.
Florence and Arezzo are just a 30 minute train ride, while Rome is 3 hours. Sienna, Cortona, Orvieto, and other tourist attractions are also easily accessible.
Anna Paola Bosi is the Director of Il Sillabo and serves as the main onsite program coordinator. Anna Paola will arrange the airport welcome, oversee the orientation, register students for courses, organize excursions and help resolve any problems that may come up during the program. She is available during the day at Il Sillabo and at any hour by mobile phone. Anna Paola has plenty of experience working with international students, so don't be afraid to approach her with questions about Italian culture! The program starts with an intensive orientation that includes the following:
