Application deadlines & requirementsKEI reviews applications on a rolling basis. Students are encouraged to apply early to reserve a place in the program and take advantage of the early enrollment discount. Completed applications take approximately 1 week to review. A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required for most KEI programs. A minimum GPA of 2.8 (3.0 preferred) and at least two completed semesters (prior to the application deadline) of university study is required for the KEI program in Japan. A minimum GPA of 2.8 (3.0 preferred) is required for the KEI program in Scotland for applicants who plan to take mathematics and/or science courses. Students with a GPA below the minimum may still be considered on an individual basis depending on their personal situation. KEI does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, creed, sexual orientation, national origin, religion or ethnic origin. ANNOUNCEMENTS The application deadline for the following Fall 2017 programs has been extended to May 23: China, Ecuador, England, France, Ireland, Italy, Kenya, Peru, Russia, Scotland, Spain, Thailand and UAE.
Late Applications **There is no late application deadline. However, applications completed after the application deadline will be reviewed only if space is available in the program. Check to see if your program is still accepting applications. Late applications must include a non refundable processing fee of $150, in addition to the regular application fee of $100. An $850 enrollment-confirmation deposit may also be required if applying past the Enrollment Deadline. Since enrollment deadlines vary by program and session, contact KEI for more information. Late applicants may also incur additional fees to cover any increases in cost of housing, excursions and other logistical services that may arise as a result of applying after the deadline.
Application RequirementsApplicants should read and understand the information published on the KEI website and KEI program literature. In addition, applicants must agree to abide by KEI policies. A complete application consists of a KEI Application Form, supporting documents and an interview. Application form
KEI's application form is self-guided. The application is available online and as a PDF file. Applicants should gather all required information before starting the application process. Personal statement
The personal statement should be approximately 2 pages (500 words, double-spaced), and describe your academic and professional goals, what you have done thus far to achieve these goals and how studying abroad with KEI will contribute to achieving your goals. Letter of reference
One letter of reference is required. The reference should come from your teacher/professor or a person who had a significant influence in your life (advisor, piano teacher, coach, employer, etc.) Passport photos
Two passport-sized photographs are required. All photos MUST be official size. Do NOT send photocopied or scanned photos. Make sure to read the Passport Photo Guidelines before sending your photos. Application fee
A non refundable application fee of $100 USD, payable by check or money order, is required. If you apply and enroll before the program's application deadline the $100 application fee will be applied towards the program fee. Visit the Save with KEI page for more information about the Early Enrollment offer. Late applications must include a non refundable processing fee of $150, in addition to the regular application fee of $100. If applying after the enrollment deadline, an $850 non refundable enrollment-confirmation deposit may also be required. Passport information
We will need a copy of your passport information page - the one with your picture. Don't have a passport? Don't worry. You can still apply to the program now; just make sure to order your passport as soon as possible and submit a copy before the enrollment deadline. Your KEI advisor can assist you with this process. Interview
After KEI receives your application, we will contact you to set up a phone interview. Phone interviews are informal and a good opportunity for you to ask questions about the program, application and enrollment process, etc. Interviews also provide an opportunity for our Program Managers to learn more about your interests and needs so that we can serve you better. Internship statement & resume
Students interested in an internship or community service must include a one-page, typed description of their desired placement, qualifying skills, previous experience in the field, relevant academic coursework and intended career path. Make sure to indicate your proficiency in the host country language. A resume or CV is also required. For minors
