Teaching & grading
Courses in Turkey are usually conducted in lecture style, with less student interaction than in the USA.
It is unusual for students to openly disagree with the professor.
Turkish professors may view it as a challenge to their knowledge and authority.
Students are expected to adapt to the teaching style in Turkey.
English is the language of instruction at Bahcesehir University.
Students are graded based on their performance in class and exams and/or papers.
Assessment methods may be different from universities in the USA.
Professors may test students orally (as opposed to passing out written exams); students from the same class may be asked different questions on their exams; and there may be fewer formal assessments than is common in the USA.
The final grade is usually based on the average of formal assessments, attendance and professor's evaluation.
Grades are provided as a percentage, which can be easily converted to a US-based letter grade (A, B, C, D, F).
