Student life

Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), located in the northern part of the UAE, is an ideal location for studying in the UAE. The sea, the desert and the mountains are in close proximity to the university. Dubai is an hour drive. Oman is a 45 minute drive.

RAK offers the opportunity to connect with a rich Arab culture in an international environment. RAK has a smaller town feel, which allows students to meet both Emiratis and people from other countries. Students are encouraged to participate in campus activities and clubs, and to build lasting friendships.

Housing & meals

Students live on campus at the EDRAK residence hall. Rooms are double occupancy with ensuite bathroom and balcony. The residence hall has a common TV room, study room, laundry facility and WiFi Internet.

The Al Maraya restaurant on campus offers daily specials along with set items such as pizza and salads. Students can eat in the Al Maraya or have food delivered to their residence hall. Many Arabic and Indian restaurants in RAK as well as familiar franchises such as Subway, McDonalds and KFC also deliver to campus.

Getting around town

There are numerous taxis in Ras Al Khaimah. Unlike many other countries, taxis in the UAE are relatively inexpensive. Buses connect RAK with Dubai and other parts of the UAE. A ticket from RAK to Dubai is approximately $10.

Phones & internet

KEI will provide a prepaid mobile phone shortly after arrival in UAE. The KEI Onsite Director will explain how to use the phone. The phone will have a small amount of credit to get you started. Additional minutes can be purchased at numerous convenience stores.
