What is the university of record?
A university of record (UOR) is an accredited university or college in the USA that validates KEI programs to ensure that the academic component meets with regional accrediting standards.
KEI's relationship with a university of record serves two purposes:
To ensure high quality programs.
To award program credit and issue official program transcripts.
UOR administrators and/or faculty visit KEI program locations to evaluate academic standards, discuss curriculum with local faculty and staff, observe classes and tour campus facilities.
KEI services, student housing and on-site support staff are also assessed during the visits.
Lincoln University is the UOR for most KEI programs.
Lincoln University of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, chartered in 1854, is the first historically black university in the USA.
Lincoln is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education to award bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees.

What is a co-sponsor institution?
A Co-Sponsor Institution (CSI) is a university or college, accredited in the USA, that has partnered with KEI on a semester, academic year and/or summer study abroad program.
In general, co-sponsored programs are managed by KEI.
The CSI provides academic and logistical oversight for the program, issues program transcripts and, in some cases, manages the application and enrollment process.

Visit the Academics page of the desired program location for specific information about credit and transcripts.
What institution will issue my program transcripts?
Students have the option of receiving program transcripts from:
KEI's host institution abroad, or
KEI's university of record or co-sponsor institution
The option that is best for you depends on the policy regulating credit transfer at your home university.
Some universities in the USA prefer to receive transcripts directly from the host institution, while other universities prefer to receive transcripts from a US-accredited institution (university of record or co-sponsoring university/college).
Students should consult with the study abroad and/or academic advisors on their campus.
Students who are not currently matriculated at a university, including precollege students and recent graduates, should speak with a KEI advisor.
What if I want transcripts from both the host institution and university of record?
Students who request transcripts from both the host institution and the university of record must pay a $300 transcript processing fee.
Requests for multiple transcript types must be indicated on the Transcript Request Form.
In our experience, this is usually not necessary for credit transfer.
Note that there is no fee if requesting only one type of transcript (host institution or university of record/co-sponsoring institution).
When are program transcripts sent?
Program transcripts are usually sent within 2 months of the program's end date, although it may take more time depending on program location and other factors.
Transcripts will only be released if there is no balance on the KEI student account and all post-program forms have been submitted.
What if I need my transcripts sooner?
It may be possible to expedite transcript processing under certain conditions.
For example, students who are graduating soon after their program abroad would be considered for expedited service.
Contact a KEI advisor if you need to expedite processing time.
KEI makes no guarantees about expedition of transcripts.
Transcripts will only be released if there is no balance on the KEI student account and all post-program forms have been submitted.
Where do I specify the address for mailing my official and unofficial transcripts?
The Transcript Request Form contains sections for transcript type (host institution, university of record, or both) and mailing addresses for the official and unofficial transcripts.
Students should complete and return the Transcript Request Form before the enrollment deadline for the program.
I am interested in a degree/certificate program abroad. What institution issues my transcripts?
The host institution awards the degree and/or certificate.
Note that many foreign universities do not issue transcripts after each term of study.
Students are simply awarded a degree or diploma upon successful completion of the program.
Students who enroll in a degree program through KEI are also eligible to receive a university of record transcript.
