SOUTH KOREA ACADEMICS
KEI offers a 4-week Session, a 6-week Term, and a 4-week Internship during the summer. All summer programs start in late June/early July. Courses are taught at Hanyang University (HYU). Internships are organized in partnership with HYU and CRCC Asia. The Summer Term is a multi-country program that combines 4 weeks in Korea with 1 week in Japan and 1 week in China.
Summer Session (HISS)
HYU International Summer School (HISS), offered during the Summer Session, combines high-quality education with immersive cultural experiences, making it a dynamic option for students seeking both academic and personal growth during their summer break. Beyond academics, HISS offers cultural activities like K-pop dance workshops, Taekwondo lessons, and visits to historic sites.
HISS offers more than 70 courses in business, engineering, computer science, art, media, design, sports, and Korean studies. The language of instruction is English. Summer Term (HYLION): Korea, Japan & China
HYU Learning, Innovation, and Outreach Network (HYLION), offered during the Summer Term, goes beyond Korea. HYLION is a multi-country experience that combines HISS (Summer Session) followed by 2 weeks of immersive trips, lectures, and activities in China and Japan. Over the course of six weeks, participants engage in academic and cultural explorations across three major East Asian nations, delving into topics such as business, technology, culture, and history.
Students attend lectures at prestigious universities, explore historical landmarks, and participate in cultural workshops that introduce the richness of each nation’s traditions and modern advancements. From visiting Seoul’s tech hubs to exploring China’s historical cities and Japan’s innovative industries, students broaden their global perspective while experiencing the diversity and interconnectedness of East Asia. It’s an ideal program for those seeking an extended, multi-dimensional study abroad experience.
In Korea, students may select up to 3 courses at HYU from more than 70 offerings in business, engineering, computer science, art, media, design, sports, and Korean studies. In China and Japan, students will participate in 8 lectures taught by professors from local universities, covering culture, politics, and economics.

Summer Internship
The Summer Internship is best suited for students who prioritize an internship (3 credits). Students must also enroll in 1 course (3 credits). Courses and internships are in English (internships can also be organized in Korean and bilingual settings).

Internships are available in engineering, computer science, IT, business, finance, marketing, creative media, health, and other professional fields. Placement is based on student interest and availability of positions.

Credit and transcripts for courses and internships are issued by Hanyang University and Lincoln University (KEI school of record). HYU is accredited by the Korean University Accreditation Institute (KUAI); the College of Engineering is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); and the School of Business is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Lincoln University is accredited in the USA by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).
