USIU utilizes a trimester academic calendar, which is similar to a semester calendar with a third semester during the summer.

Students can earn up to 15 credits per Fall, Spring and Summer trimester.
 
The program is hosted by the United States International University, the only private, secular institution of higher learning in East Africa. Academic credit and transcripts are issued by USIU, which is accredited in the United States.
